Taliban Peace deal and Human Rights
By Wali Olaaspal, Kabul
After the peace deal or withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, it seems Taliban will be the part of Afghan politics. After decades Talban contra-war with the NATO troops in Afghanistan may end with last effort for peace deal among contraries. In this first month of the year 2013, the peace process of Afghan Government and Taliban with the help of USA entered into a new ray of hope with the releasing of some Talib leaders from pakistani prisons last year, while in 2012 peace talk faced ups and down stages many times due to the USA election process.
The delay in peace process might be caused by Obama administration’s cautiousness to get desired results in election. This all ups and down are the parts of deal. After many decades tired Afghan people, who want peace and have desire to end this unpredictable war. The war against soviet union, the proxy civil war killed and injured more then 40,00,000 innocent Afghans, and millions of civilian compelled to leave their homeland. The present Afghan Warlords who are in Karzai’s administration and taliban both are the old players of this battleground, and they are responsible for the destabilizing of Afghanistan.
The cold war between the USSR and Capitalist world was the sole reason for the creation of mujahedeen network which then turned to present day Taliban movement and thus we can derive that they were created to defeat USSR for the sake to prevail capitalistic ideas freely in central and South Asia. Taliban were planted in CIA and ISI farms, in the decade of seventy and eighty thousands of madras’s were organized in Pakistan during Ziaulhaq’s regime who was a military dictator sponsored by Arabs, CIA and ISI for the purpose to establish a religious fundamentalist forces. These religious fundamentalists could be easily utilized by those agencies for the accomplishment of their ultimate goals in the region. These all facts are the part of history.
After 9/11, the USA and international forces fill the site of warlords and they established a new Government in Afghanistan. Now Afghan government and Taliban are promoting toward national reconciliation process with the help of international allies and majority of Afghans are of the view that it will be the decisive step toward political stability in Afghanistan after withdrawal of international forces. All peacefull nations are supporting this national reconciliation agreement of Afghan government with Talibans but it indicates a thing still remains which is the antagonistic basic rules of talibanism and these concern with the social norms which were devoloped forcefully on Afghan society during Talibans regime. Those forceful practices of social nature in the decade of 90s during Taliban regime are not acceptable to Afghan civil society and are not according to the ways of life of civilized nations of the world but Taliban are still supporting their old ways which were implemented by force in Afghanistan.
The practices to be mentioned are the inhuman thoughts of Talibanization philosophy towards women and masses. In those days Afghanistan was a picture of disappointment and almost every citizen was on the way to fly this fearful state which was reminding the Stone Age. There were no rights for human in their law and they were against all basic rights of women, there was no place for modern scientific education in their theory and even they are defending this miss act now also.
They sealed all schools without any reason in those regions where they got control. They were against music and masses were deprived from all entertaining activities, according to their point of view women could not be allow do any social activity and women were treated like animal further more they were not in the favor of construction, according to them this world is just for non-Muslims. If we study the followers of Talibanization, there will be some similarities among them.
However, moderate Talibans are also supporting those disgusting practices which lead to strict backwardness, some Taliban leaders who live in Kabul as like Mula Salam Zaheef, made a university (Afghan Pohantoon) with the assistance of Saudi Arabia in the center of Kabul, university is just for male students their is no place for female. Once i asked from a lecturer of Islamic studies in this university, why there is no section for female students or why you people do not allow female to get education in your university? He replied very innocently, it depends upon Islamic Imarat’s (The Government of Taliban) order and explained that female are still not secure to get education in this environment. I inquired which kind of environment in your opinion should be provided? He said there should be Islamic government. I said then why you people closed all educational institutes during Taliban rules in Afghanistan. The answer by him was not reliable and parallel with today’s educational requirements. In this situation the major threat is not Taliban but orthodox thoughts of Talibanism.
The reconciliation policy may bring Taliban to political ground, in the same time the politicians, human rights, particularly women rights activists and other social progressive movements should take the responsibility to vanish the theory of Talibanism with logical, ethical and scientific reasons in the region for a long term peace, Because Talibanizations theory is a serious threat for peaceful nation of region but not Taliban.
