Balochistan: 257 BHUs and hospitals do not exist on the ground: UN Report

According to the World Health Organization’s report on health facilities in Balochistan, according to

official figures, there are 1,661 hospitals, primary health centers, rural health centers, and other medical centers on paper, and out of them, 257 medical institutions do not exist on earth. 1404 medical centers and hospitals have been evaluated by the World Health Organization.

According to the report, 8 hospitals and medical centers are destroyed, on which the budget and medicines are being released. 140 medical centers are inactive, on which a budget of billions of rupees is being released. 656 medical centers are partially functional and 220 medical centers are partially within reach.

68 medical institutions do not exist in Zhob division, 20 medical institutions are missing in Nasirabad, 16 in Sabi division, 13 in Makran division, 9 in Quetta division, 13 in Rakhshan division, and 9 medical institutions are missing in Kalat division. 87% of the buildings were destroyed due to lack of construction and repair, as these funds became a source of corruption.

In 603 medical centers, 43 percent of medical equipment is partially destroyed, while 140 medical facilities are wholly disabled, and 656 medical facilities are partially functional. Water is unavailable in 586 medical institutions, and water supply is unsatisfactory in 399 medical institutions. In 457 medical institutions, the latrine facility is completely non-existent, and in 592 medical institutions, the latrine facility is unsatisfactory.

49% of hospitals in Quetta do not have facilities for hand washing on a medical basis, 56% of hospitals in Nasirabad, 70% of Sibi, 71% of Zhob, 83% of Qalat, 69% of Makran, and 59% of hospitals of Rakhshan division do not have facilities for washing hands with soap. The facility is not available.

In 887 medical centers and hospitals of Balochistan, there is no facility to clean medical instruments on a medical basis, in 285 institutions this facility is unsatisfactory, and only 82 medical centers have this facility. That is, the facility of Hepatitis-C and AIDS in the package for treatment has been provided by the government.

904 medical centers and hospitals do not have the facility to dispose of medical waste, while in the rest of the centers, this facility is unsatisfactory. In 809 medical centers, the syringe is not discarded after injection, while in 324 medical centers, this facility is unsatisfactory. It causes Hepatitis-B, AIDS, HIV, and other diseases to spread.
